Located on the nearby island of Ono, Naqara District School is widely regarded as the “Mother of All Schools”. Long before schools were developed on the neighboring islands of Dravuni, Buliya, Nabouwalu, Vabea, Narikoso and Tiliva, local villagers would send their children to Naqara for education.
Today, a total of 38 students are enrolled in years 1-8, and taught by 4 teachers. Acting also as a boarding school, Naqara offers dormitories for 16 students who are transported to and from their homes on the weekends.
To assist with their studies, Kokomo was delighted to recently donate 4 computers and accompanying equipment (mouse, keyboard, speakers, usbs) to the school. Our Resort Manager, Jacques Louw visited the school to assist with setting up the computer stations. The students and teachers greeted Jacques and team with a warm welcome and performed traditional Fijian dances.
